App Privacy Policy

App: SWERV mobile app for iOS and Android (com.swervair.app)

This policy explains how SWERV Inc ("SWERV," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the SWERV mobile app and the cloud services that connect to your SWERV window Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV). It adds to our main Privacy Policy, which covers our website, store, and purchases. If the two conflict on anything related to the app, this policy controls.

2. Information the app collects

Account information

  • Email address and a unique user ID
  • Password, which is handled by our authentication provider and never stored by us in plain text
  • If you use Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple, the name and email those services share with us (Apple may give us a private relay email if you choose Hide My Email)
  • Session tokens stored on your phone so you stay signed in

Device information

  • Your SWERV unit's device ID, display name, room label, and which account and home it belongs to
  • Online or offline status, last seen time, and firmware version
  • Operating data from the unit when it is connected, such as mode, fan speed, and sensor readings like CO2, temperature, and humidity

Wi-Fi setup

During setup the app finds your unit over Bluetooth and sends your Wi-Fi network name and password directly to the unit so it can get online. Your Wi-Fi password goes only to your SWERV unit. The app does not send it to our servers. The network name may be saved on your phone for convenience.

Location

With your permission, the app uses your approximate location only while the app is in use. We use it to help your phone find nearby devices over Bluetooth (some phones require this) and to show outdoor weather and air quality for your install location. Coordinates are stored on your phone and sent to our weather provider to get the forecast. We do not track your location in the background or over time.

Technical information

App version, phone platform (iOS or Android), connection status, and the request data needed to keep the service secure and working. The app does not currently include any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash reporting tools. If that changes we will update this policy first.

What we do not collect

The app does not access your camera, microphone, contacts, or photos, and it does not collect payment information. Purchases happen on swervair.com and are covered by our main Privacy Policy.

3. How we use it

  • Create and secure your account
  • Set up your SWERV unit, connect it to Wi-Fi, and link it to your account
  • Show status, sensor data, schedules, and controls for your unit
  • Show outdoor weather for your location
  • Provide customer support
  • Diagnose problems and improve product performance and reliability, using aggregated or de-identified data where possible
  • Prevent abuse and meet legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information and we do not use app data for advertising or tracking across other companies' apps or websites.

4. Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers that help run the app, and only for the purposes above:

  • Supabase for account sign-in and our backend database
  • Google and Apple if you choose to sign in with them
  • Golioth for device connectivity, sensor data, commands, schedules, and firmware updates
  • A third-party weather service for outdoor weather and air quality, which receives only latitude and longitude
  • Email and support tools we use to respond to you

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety and rights of our users or others.

5. App permissions

  • Bluetooth to find and set up your unit
  • Location (while using the app) for nearby device scanning and local weather
  • Local network (iOS) to talk to your unit on your home network

You can turn these off anytime in your phone's settings. Setup or weather features may not work without them.

6. Retention and deleting your account

We keep your account and device data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time:

When you delete your account we delete your account profile, device links, and associated app data within 30 days, and release your SWERV unit so it can be set up again. We may keep limited records longer where the law requires it, for example for security or legal disputes. Removing a device or signing out in the app clears that device's data from your phone.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or get a copy of your personal information, and to object to or limit certain processing. Email support@swervair.com and we will verify your identity and respond as the law requires. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

California residents: we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising from the app.

EEA and UK residents: we process app data to provide the service you signed up for, with your consent for location, and for our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and reliable. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

8. Security

Cloud traffic is encrypted with HTTPS, and Bluetooth and location access are controlled by your phone's permissions. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password.

9. Children

The app is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child gave us information, email us and we will delete it.

10. Where data is stored

We and our providers store and process data in the United States and possibly other countries, using appropriate safeguards where required.

11. Changes

If we update this policy we will change the date at the top, and for significant changes we will let you know in the app or by email.
